Meet The Chef

Chef Rick Bruggeman

Patrick's is proud to have Chef Rick, and we know you'll love his world class cuisine.

Chef Rick Bruggeman hails from Chicago, where he started in the restaurant business at the age of 14, working at the famous German restaurant Zum Deutschen Eck. While working he attended the Washburne Trade School, majoring in Culinary Arts. In 1984 he moved his family to Northwest Indiana to work at the historic restaurant "The Spa," located in Porter. After 5 years he made his move to a local country club in Michigan City, where he was Executive Chef for over 25 years.

Rick's popularity as a fine chef grew during this time, as he offered his guests outstanding casual to world class experiences in dining. He continued to educate himself by attending the Culinary Institute of America as well as keeping up with new trends - and even working at a popular BBQ restaurant.

Chef Rick is excited to bring his culinary perspective and cuisine to Patrick’s Grille.

Our Story

Patrick’s Grille is an independently and locally owned and operated fine dining establishment with a cosmopolitan, yet comfortable, ambiance. Patrick’s Grille was established by local entrepreneur Patrick Wilkins. Native to the region and a Hoosier at heart, Patrick has fine tuned and diversified his palate through his years of travel, and is pleased to bring his favorite cuisine back to Michigan City to share with friends and family. While dedicated to the highest quality of fine dining, Patrick’s provides a comfortable environment, welcoming friends to gather for any occasion.

The menu features a variety of dishes in addition to classic favorites, including Friday night fish features and Saturday night prime rib. The bar welcomes several local breweries on tap, and features regional distilleries and an exquisite top shelf— and ice cream lovers will rejoice with our classic ice cream cocktail desserts. Our mission statement is simple: “Quality and consistency at a fair price.” And, you should expect nothing less.
